Cortizo Windows Feature on South Lincolnshire Grand Design Project
Eagle-eyed viewers and proud owners of aluminium windows and doors may have spotted one of our favourite brands featured on Grand Designs earlier this year.
South Lincolnshire-based couple, Nathan and Amye, appeared on the Channel 4 show in January 2021 alongside Kevin McCloud, with a dream vision to build a large home modelled on a Dutch barn house. They wanted a sleek, contemporary feel and a striking 5000 tile armadillo roof.
With a large open-plan design they wanted to invest in the best insulated windows and doors on the market, without compromising on the aesthetic of their contemporary build.
The couple opted for Cortizo Millennium Plus Door and Cortizo Casement window, both made with high-quality aluminium for fantastic levels of insulation. The casement windows also offered slimline frames for a sleek look which also allowed plenty of light into the high-ceilinged building.
Outside the house was completely covered in black slate and the interior construction featured a bespoke steel structure. The dark aluminium windows frames and front door were the perfect match.
The large home was built in Weston Hills, a hamlet in the civil parish of Weston based in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire. Weston Hills is situated approximately two miles east from the town of Spalding.
Speaking on the programme, Amye wanted to recreate her countryside upbringing for her future children, and as Nathan was originally from South Lincolnshire, they felt this was the perfect spot.
The couple bought the land in 2019 and worked through lockdown to bring their cathedral-like Dutch barn house to life. After setbacks from the pandemic, the project was finally completed in November 2020.
Visiting the site after completion, Kevin compared the property to a ‘steel cathedral’ and complimented the ‘sharp and crisp’ exterior.
